What began initially 2008 as a Strategic Prevention Framework – State Incentive Grant through Cherokee Nation, with the concentration purpose to reduce the prescription drug misuse and the opioid epidemic, quickly grew into a full coalition with an expanded focus on the usage and sale of alcohol and tobacco under aged youth. Grant funding has been secured for more than 12 years to sustain and support the mission and outreach. Representing of the 12 sectors of prevention outreach, the current coalition is a collaboration of community members, parents, youth, businesses, law enforcement, medical professionals, media and nonprofit sector partners who are dedicated to working on reduction of substance use and abuse in Muskogee County.
